Cru Encarnação
Cru Encarnação (they/them or he/him) is a performance artist, writer and translator born in Lisbon and based in Berlin. They have studied Philosophy and Comparative Literature at Freie Universität Berlin.
In their work, they seek to create open-ended brainstorms that platform the cognitive-motorical and chemical-physical expansion of socially constructed meaning. His dissociative, fictional and speculative modus operandi discloses a fragile yet vicious reality.
They have a theoretical background in Phenomenology and Feminist Philosophy of Science and their field of interests include Neo-Eschatology, Machinery, Chemistry, New-Materialism, and Post-Colonial Theory.
Among other venues and events, they have performed at ACUD MACHT NEU, Horse&Pony, nGbK, diffrakt., transmediale 2019 & 2021, Low Text, Hopscotch Reading Room, Zwitschermaschine Gallerie, MUTEK 2020 and Alte Münze. They have been published by the collectives Brilidge (Berlin), FALTA (Açores, Portugal), trains (USA) and Montag Modus’s Ecology of Attention (Berlin) and streamed at Cashmere Radio, Ma3azef or Radio Caso.
